FAQ

What is Workday?

Workday is a cloud-based Human Resources Management business system.

What changes will Workday bring to NEIU?

For most employees, the changes felt will be minimal. Workday will be replacing Banner HR and, most importantly, Banner Self-Service. After Workday Go Live, most of the functions you perform in Self Service, such as entering and approving timesheets, checking leave balances and requesting absences, and updating your personal and contact information, will migrate to Workday.

For employees who process HR transactions, such as requesting positions, developing faculty contracts, or hiring student employees, Workday will replace many current paper paper-based processes with secure and transparent business processes in the cloud. Employees, managers, and administration will be able to review, approve or reject, and track most transactions within the Workday application.

What is not changing with Workday?

Workday will only replace Banner HR functions, but other Banner applications, such as Finance and Student Management, will remain mostly unchanged.

Where do I get help with Workday?

There will be a number of job aides published on this website that should cover most business applications that we expect users to need. In the event something is not covered, you should contact the Office of Human Resources at x5200 or email us at helpdesk@neiu.edu. Additionally, a schedule of in person and Zoom training sessions is currently in development, and will be announced shortly.
