Classroom-Based Workday Training

Classroom-Based Workday Training

Managers and Chairs Should Register today!

Dear Colleagues,

Thanks, and appreciation goes to those who have attended or plan to attend this week’s virtual training sessions on the basic functionality of Workday.   This virtual training is important for all campus users. Starting next week, however, Workday training will go face to face to cover key processes that are a bit more complex, specific, and require additional guidance compared to the Basics sessions we are offering virtually.

The classroom-based training is designed specifically for Managers and Chairs who need to understand how key human resource processes will now be initiated and approved in Workday.

This training starts on April 10th.  While end-of-term activities might be starting to accumulate for managers and chairs, this is the crucial time to set aside time to learn about our new system.  For a schedule and session details, see the Workday website, here - Workday.NEIU.edu.

A few important things to note about the classroom-based training:

1.    With numerous topics to cover, this training involves multiple sessions.  We ask that you plan to attend all of the sessions in either Option 1 or Option 2.  The same material is covered in Option 1, over three days or in Option 2, over 2 days (but with longer sessions).

Options

Dates

Option 1

April 10, 11 and 12

Option 2

April 13 and 14

Since these are classroom-based training sessions with limited seating, we ask you to register in advance to secure your seat.

Please register for your preferred training session by April 7 here: https://forms.gle/ZMJ8XDQc7bpRgZ4M6

2.    Additional classroom-based sessions will be offered later in April and into May.  As these sessions are confirmed, the training schedule will be updated online.  We ask you to check the Workday.NEIU.edu website for the most up to date information.  We will also send a communication that outlines the training session dates and the registration process.

3.    If you are not able to attend the initial training sessions due to your schedule limitations:

·         Please review job aids under the Workday website (link)

·         Look out for and participate in future training opportunities!

We encourage you to bookmark the Workday.NEIU.edu website as we continue to add self-direct training materials and new virtual and classroom-based training session dates.

A successful implementation is directly related to the readiness of our campus colleagues.  We ask that you attend the training relevant to you and to encourage your teams to stay engaged.  They can attend a virtual session that covers the Workday Basics and they can use the self-direct training materials online for additional support.

If you have any questions, please let us know.

Thank you!
