Employee Service Date Definitions

One of the key elements of the new Workday platform is increased transparency to employee records and data, such as the different service dates that are recorded.

Hire Date - The date of the employee's most recent hire or rehire event

Original Hire Date - First day of employment of any kind at NEIU, this includes non-status appointments such as Extra Help, student workers, and limited term A&P positions

Continuous Service Date - A calculated field representing an employee's seniority date for the purposes of vacation accrual, bumping rights, and years of service awards.
